Default gas pedal sticking

when i drive my car on the hwy and after i get off the hwy for about a mile or 2...the gas pedal sometimes will stick in its position for a few seconds and rev at out 2000 when not in gear and when its in gear and im just coasting in gear...the car will decel very very slow...like its still on the gas but not giving it enough to make the car go any faster...anyone experience this problem or know what it is....thanks alot guys

Has the IAC (idle air control) ever been serviced???
Even if the dealers charge $800 for a major service, they will not touch this - and I fear most will just replace, despite its high cost.

Yeah it sounds like an air leak, which is what EW was getting at. Not likely that the accelerator pedal is actually sticking. When air is allowed in where it should not be, the revs will stay up and then slowly drop to some high idle point. As EW said, remove the IAC clean and lube it and reinstall. Check the hoses connected to it for cracks. If the IAC service does not fix it, look for a leak in a vac line, for a cracked throttle body transition casting o-ring, or for your throttle plate to not be closing all the way when you are off throttle.

The correct things have been done - it is not always the IAC...Build up of varnish, dirt, sludge at the throttle plate and in the bore of the throttle body is a bit of a problem..
On the Honda, I'll have to do the same - she is idling too slowly....
