Default Hood deflector/Front end protection

Hi all,

Just a question regarding a hood deflector for the 9-3. Is there a brand or model that you guys have used or would recommend that is not "fugly". I don't mind ordering off the net somewhere but it is so hard to tell with the pictures what looks good or not. Are there any other front end protection kits that anyone has used or would recommend? I see the 3M ones but they are pricy for a leased vehicle.

Cheers,

Tom

You mean these trashy things that you only see on pickup trucks and old conversion vans?

Go with the clear 3M front end wrap.

Default Hood protector

Warrens opinionated response aside, you can pick them up from the SAAB catalog, stateofnine, or genuinesaab, etc. I personally don't know of any other manufacturers other than thru SAAB (made in Australia). Functionally they're ok. I think they look good as a counterweight to the spoiler at the other end. I've used them on my last three SAABs but I always paint them to match the car, so... I have pictures if desired. I hear 3M material, available thru several manufactures, is good if you prefer full frontal coverage. I've used it on headlight but not the bumper skins. I've seen a few cars with it poorly applied so I decided not to go that route.

Kinda a strange way of helping someone if thats what your trying accomplish.

In the SAAB accessory catalog, there is one of these pictured, pn#02 00 131 $83.40 on pg.19

There isn't a 3m tape style from SAAB, but I've heard a few people using the 9-5 one, trimming it as needed. pn48 53 909

hope this helps, good luck , enjoy!

I'm a very helpful person in my own way

Funny, I just got the Saab catalog in the mail today and noticed the deflector accessory. I was referring to the 3M clear bra protective film.

Go on eBay and type "saab 9-3 clear" in the search.

Clear hood & Bumper kit, and you'll be surprised with the price... but who know's how it fits. It probably doesn't fit perfectly, but a sharp razor & a hairdryer would help.

Default Protector

I'll try this...see if you can actually make the hood protector out.

I recently pickup one of these clear bra kits off of eBay for $24.99 (+$15 for shipping)and finally got around to installing it today... and it looks great! I'm surprised that it fit so well for the price I paid. The kit comes with hood, fenders, front bumper & mirror pieces. Note: it does take some skill & patience for the install and a heatgun or hairdryer is a must, but for your average DIYer, it's manageable... Pretty much like tinting a car.
