Ok, I've tried everything I could find to try and get the trouble code out of the car. My first notion was that it was OBD-I because the obvious that OBD-II didn't become mandatory until 1996. I used an OBD-II reader just to be sure because I read that Saab "may have" switched to OBD-II before 1996. Well, the scanner didn't do anything. There is also only one O2 sensor before the cat which could only be OBD-I.
So, I tried the OBD-I trouble code recovery route: I grounded the connection on the serial port under the dashboard, (http://www.saabcentral.com/%7Emunki/...s_motronic.htm) to no avail. I've tried just turning the engine to "On" and waiting for the flashing to begin, (http://www.saabcentral.com/%7Emunki/technical/engine/electrical/cel_codes_trionic.htm), which was also fruitless. I've even looked under the passengers rear seat to find a hidden serial connector, but nothing there... Just to try and fix the most common problem for a check engine light, I put in a new O2 sensor, unplugged the battery overnight, and that pesky light came back on the next afternoon... I plan on going the local Saab "stealership" soon and am mustering the courage to fork over $105.00 to find out what is actually causing the whole problem... But any help for the do-it-yourselfer to check this light is extremely appreciated. Thank you!! ~Adam |

Get the code read at Autozone and then plug it into one of these:

The light is on continuosly and doesn't flash at all. Just for a little more info, it's also been stalling every now and then when I put the clutch all the way and take my foot of the gas. Maybe once a day, but otherwise it runs fine. Any ideas are greatly appreciated
