got a '97 900s- I am pulling the engine out and the only hangup is the removal of the passanger side cv shaft/axle. There is a bearing carrier on the shaft to support its long length- do I need to remove the carrier to take out the shaft? What am I missing? I have done search and seen engine removal pics but no one mentions this "extra long" shaft.
Help! The engine is hanging waiting for me as I speak |

Mine has a two piece drive shaft, on the right side..
Why not leave the inner section in place and yank out the outer section. Am I right or wrong ?? I used to use a 5 foot long tire breaker bar to "pop" the inner joints...on the good old ones..

I was under the impression it was a one piece unit- if it does pop apart at the carrier bearing that would be great!
Am I safe to try to pop it from here? Any circlips in the way of progress? Thanks a ton. |
