Hi,
I have a 2003 9-3 with an annoying rattling type noise (not real loud but enough to qualify as annoying). I get this noise from 30mph and up. I "think" it is coming from the roof. If the noise is in the roof, how difficult is it to remove the head-liner to probe for the noise? I will probably have a Saab dealer do this unless it is easy enough for me to do. thanks -- would appreciate the thoughts of those who have experienced a similar type noise. Saabsrgreat |

There is an airbag right above the door in the roof. It shouldn't be rattling. I had this happen within a month of owning the car and the dealer replaced the airbag. No rattle there since.

I had two fixed myself.
1 - At the base of the rear view mirror (where it meets the ceiling), I simply added some thick folded piece of paper to stop them from vibrating one against the other one. 2 - Inside the ceiling lightning piece, there is a small metallic track crossing from right to left (or left to right ;-)) to power the lamps just above some plastic. It got loose and vibrated against the plastic. Also got it fixed by adding some folded paper between the metal and the plastic. Pretty cheap in a Saab, isn't it But it does the job and it's invisible. Come to think of it, I am more and more convinced the guys (had two installed and the second one reinstalled due to malfunction) who installed the HF mic there propably caused those problems. |

Result from the service visit: no improvement
They did "upload" the latest stereo updates (???), but I did not notice any change. Well at least, none of the preset were reset. |
