Default td04 turbo install help

so this turbo will work right? its from a 00 Viggen. what will i need to make it work? new oil lines?
edit:
i have a jsp stage 3 tune now (21psi peak) i can drive the car with this turbo right? i just will not get the full power of the turbo but it will not hurt anything? jak is going to charge me full price on the reflash so i do not have the money now so should i wait until i do and put in the turbo and IC in all at once?

no you can put it on now, easier to do it now, i would say just dont boost as hard until your able to get a reflash...your gonna need new oil/water lines...other then that it should all be fine...

You will need a few parts to make this work....

You now have a t7 style compressor housing which is difference form the simple connection of your t25 turbo. You will need to get a t7 inlet pipe, have it shortened to fit the black crinkle-cut hose and have the bpv hole filled. Jak actually did this on my car and although this might not be the best overall solution, it is pretty cheap and easy to do.

As for lines, there are 3 you will need to replace. The way I did this is with various AN fittings from summit and braided stainless lines. The sizes are posted in different places on the forum which you should be able to find by searching.

I'll reiterate about the tune: This turbo will push more air into the engine. As you are now over 20 psi this could possibly create a lean condition without the proper fuel maps of a stage IV. Consult Jak for more advice here.

As for the tune goes:

It will run your car, but as stromer mentioned the TD04 uses completely different fuel maps. I would suggest that you do not go WOT with the new turbo on running off of T25 fueling. Once or twice will not destroy the engine but it will lean out which is not good.

Genuinesaab does have a t5/t7 adapter turbo inlet which I am currently using. If you dont have 160 to spend on that, send me a PM, I have a modified t7 inlet pipe that will work.

2 of the 3 lines that your T25 uses will work on the TD04. One line will use different banjo bolts (screws with wholes in them to allow fluid to flow through them) and a different, I believe coolent, line.

If you do not change the rotation of the turbo, the compressor outlet will point a little more horizontal than the T25. The only problem this will have is a little difficulty fitting the T25 intercooler inlet pipe.

The oil return line (from turbo to oil pan) will need to be made as well. Its standard hose, just make sure that its not crimped at all once its installed. The oil will need to be able to flow freely to the oil pan.

The Turbo mount that holds it up from the block will be different with the TD04 as well, it is not necessary to fab one up to work as the support from the exhaust manafold and DP is sufficient.

Also, which IC do you currently have?

I fitted a td04 from a 2000 Viggen and the compressor housing allowed easy fitment of the intercooler hoses. On a t5 specifyed td04 you would need to re-clock, so he's safe here.

Stromer, mine did still fit, but theres a little angle difference leaving the turbo between the t25 and tdo4. Thats all that I ment, might have sounded more problematic.

I don't have any pictures of mine, but enough people have done this swap that some should be out there.

Really, getting the sizes for the lines is the only thing that should take a little work.

Yeah, I dont have any pictures of the actual install. The td04 I got came with 2 of the lines, which were the same as t25 lines, and the t7 turbo inlet which I modified to work with the T5 intake.

Now sense the the T7 housing causes issues what if you were to use a 9000 Aero tdo4?

Depending on which GT turbo, the install can be dramatically different. The biggest issue is not having enough clearence between alot of things and needing completely custom lines, turbo inlet, different DP connection (usually 5 bolt), choice of going external wastgate, needing bigger injectors, a mandatory custom tune, ect.
