Hi - I just picked up a 87 900 turbo in pretty decent shape. I had a 87 900s that I bought when I was in the military overseas and I always loved the car. It has an automatic transmission with 134k. The guy I bought it from said the transmission was slipping and he was no longer using the car. He only wanted $400US for the vehicle and since the interior and exterior were in great shape I figured it was worth the risk. It was more than 2 quarts low on transmission fluid and that seemed to fix the problem - for now... There is a good mechanic here in Greensboro, NC who I am going to have go over the vehicle thoroughly we can get it into his shop.
The car did not have the owners manual. Does anyone have a manual from close to that year they could scan for me? Are they online and downloadable anywhere? I don't need the whole manual - just the pages with specifications and servicing. thanks. |

Well what you should really do is skip the owners manual altogether and get the Bentley service manual - it goes in-depth and will help you to do a lot of repairs yourself. They are available on amazon, but you may be able to find a cheap used one on ebay. It will save you a lot of money in repairs.
Here is a complete scanned owners manual (MY1992) from the FAQ stickied at the top of this forum - http://in.geocities.com/saabownersmanual1/ If you are interested in learning a little more about the engineering features of the car, take a look at the "form and function" write up in the "Features" section of the site (see the toolbar at the top of the page). Edit - you can usually find used owners manuals on ebay, as well.

I'd have the bands adjusted, the TV cable adjusted, and the filter and fluid changed/cleaned. That puts the life back into the old autoboxes and keeps them on the road a great deal longer than they otherwise would last.
