Hello all,
Recently, I accidentally grinded my passenger side door/mirror up against a metal light pole which basically bent my door frame, bent my fender, crushed my fender signal, and crunched the wheel well. My uncle runs a body shop and he said it may even be so bad as it needs a new door. But, he won't know until we get the fender off and start looking at it closer. Also, he called around the local area and couldn't find a fender. I told him I could probably find a fender online as well as the other stuff so I'm trying to hunt now. Basically, I've had an insurance adjuster come out and look at it. He gave me the estimate to fix and I got the cash for that sitting in my bank account. I will update this when I have the write up in front of me to list all of the parts needed. I know the parts that I need are the passenger fender, side skirts, fender signal, wheel well, a mirror off the top of my head as I can see from the damage. I have a couple of questions for you guys as I've never had this happen before and I want to start ordering parts to get this fixed. I have a 2006 Saab 9-5 Sport (I believe this year did not have the Aero model but it had the Sport model with no wood grain interior and a silver/black one instead). Also, I live in Pennsylvania (United States) First, how do I find part #s for parts on my car, etc? What's a good way of identifying the parts so I know how to search efficiently? What year 9-5 doors will fit my car? Or should I just stick with 2006 models? Also, will a wagon door fit my car as well? Are they interchangeable in a certain year range to an extent? If I get a new door that does not match my interior, can I swap my current interior into the new door? Anybody go through this to know what an estimate for price is? Is it the same for fenders? Do other years fit 2006? What all goes along with getting a new door/fender? I probably need a new side skirt and the little decor piece on the fender/skirt area under the fender signal. That's not a pertinent piece. Do I need any moldings or anything like that? I basically bent my entire mirror casing backward, smashing the glass of the mirror. I think I can get away with keeping the back shell mirror housing but I obviously need mirror glass and probably a motor. Do junk yards ship parts out to you? I've found some doors and stuff in Ohio and Michigan but I do not know if they ship as I can't drive out there to get them. Is thesaabsite.com a legit resource? What are some other sites where I can find some parts? I don't mind if they are used as I would probably just prefer that. I've been searching car-part.com as well which is where I found the parts in Ohio/Michigan, etc. Know any other good sites? Anyway, sorry for the long winded post. I hope some of you can offer advice and I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Justin |

You should be able to get the part numbers from any mechanic! they have books, etc.
I would start calling around junkyards. There is a huge one with tons of foreign cars near Richmond, VA. Also, lots of them will ship the part to you. |

I'm not sure if these will for your '06, but I have a silver '01 9-5 in great condition. The turbo and motor seized up so I'm parting it out. Let me know if you may want some parts

Thank you. I will check the write up to see if the part number was written on there and it might save me a ton of time finding them myself.

CHeck put goldwing parts online. They are great to deal with.

Yeah, I actually stumbled upon that website this weekend and have been non-stop browsing since. It has a good amount.

I wasn't to keen about paying $500 for a new one. Good luck. |

So far, I've found and ordered everything that the insurance write up called for.
I bought a used side marker enclosure off eBay and it seems to be a 2005 and lower part. My side markers have a grey bracket/mount with a clear lens. This one has a black bracket/mount with a clear lens. A lot of auctions on eBay specify the parts with black go up to 2006 but it appears that might not be the case from looking at other similar auctions which only go up to 2005 for this color style/part. So, my question now is: is it possible to pop the lens and attach it to the mount that is currently dangling from my car or is it not even worth it? I've found an auction of a black set but I'm unsure if these will actually fit my car. I've been trying to search for tinted aftermarket side markers but have had zero luck finding anything at all. I don't mind leaving the piece broken for a while but I don't want 2 different pieces which don't match. That might be weird but I would rather wait to have them match than to have mismatched parts. Can anybody offer some thoughts on this for me? |
