Edit old posts

Who is able to "open" my old post to be edited? I want to redirect pictures inside my project thread from dead www.saabphotos.com into another, still living server, so the thread will be usefull again...( http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=91882 )

Is it a simple case of adjusting the link from, for example,

http://www.saabphotos.com/gallery/albums/album556/P3150002.sized.jpg

to

http://www.newphotos.com/gallery/P3150002.sized.jpg

?

If so, I'll give it a crack if you let me know the details

Unfortunatelly it is not so simple, as it looks, because of different ordering...
All photos are here: http://saab-900cv.rajce.idnes.cz/, grouped into date folders. Only picture names are correct, but folders are different from saabphotos. And also is possible, that names of photos could be the same (but inside different folders). I think it is neccessary do it manualy...

Hmm awkward. Helena, can Misu have edit privelidges for a couple of days so he can sort his thread out? When 3lkparts went into administration, they're hosting also went down, it's those links that need changing.

w can make him a temp mod so he can edit what he needs then change him back. The edit privileges go with user group not the individual.

How des it looks with that edit possibility? I would like to make that thread as attractive as it was, when all pictures were available (when saabphotos was working)...

With all respect, why are edit privileges locked to the general user? I'm on a lot of forums and have not seen this before. Is there a specific threat you're trying to avoid?

Edits for users are useful for a myriad of reasons, just a few of which include:

Updating dead links
Changing bad info
Updating sold items in FS threads

curious about this as well... especially considering that shown at the bottom of posts is a list of permissions.

of which, it says editing your own posts is allowed.

odd.

because earlier today i was wanting to edit a post that i had made 3 days ago and was unable to.

the edit button is available now... but still odd.

also.
why limit the edit window to 30 days? it removes the ability for users to create their own personal faq/reference threads because the original post data cannot be updated without admin/mod assistance.

fwiw, this is the only forum i frequent that seems to have this 'edit time limit' on it.

from the posts i have made, participated in, etc... saabcentral doesnt have enough 'reply traffic' to make a 30 day edit window make sense in many instances.

i have posted some threads here that took nearly a week to even get a single reply. not that i think my topics are better then sliced bread... but over on the vwvortex, i can post pretty much anything, anywhere on the site and end up with 10 replies in well under a week.
