No, not necessary. Fluid from the resevoir will fill it by gravity.
Be sure to keep the resevoir full while bleeding or you'll suck more air into the system. If you look into the resevoir you'll see that the clutch fluid supply is isolated inside--this prevents losing your brakes from a clutch failure. It also makes it easy to suck air into the clutch while bleeding if you don't pay attention to the resevoir level...

Solder won't hold it It will break as soon you try to fit it or worse when you need it most!!

I really wouldn't trust my life on it. Just throw it in the bin! There's bodges that you can get away with and then there's some that should never be done!
We need all the Saab owners we can get!

ok i luckily found a 88 saab 900 s i got the master cylinder and a new spring so now when i was currently looking for the bleed nipple from the front of the engine i think i found it poking out from underneath the black tube from the air box coming out the side of the plastic cover, i just need someone else's 2 cents to verify that it is indeed the bleed nipple, sorry for the blurriness

That be the wee beastie. Before bleeding, attach a length of 5-6mm ID clear tubing to permit you to observe the fluid stream turning solid if you are pressure bleeding, or provide a drip path if gravity bleeding.

thanks everyone for their help, i finally got it back on the road, the bleeding actually took less than 5 minutes with help with modifying this cap and a bicycle pump, you can find these caps at most junk yards with late model european cars, mostly volvo doners
