So, next on my list is draining and replacing the gearbox lube (sorry, Jim M!--call me superstitious...). Mine is a 92 900T, with no drain plug, and i have no idea whether the lube has ever been changed, so I'm thinking to go through the rear differential cover and clean out the screen while i'm in there. But I need a replacement gasket, and can't find a source for one online. Anybody have any leads?
Thanks,
grim.
The maincase is 2.7 litres and the primary case 0.3 litres total = 3 litres
You won't drain much out of the primary case unless you park it on a hill with nose up and leave it for a decent while. If you do this you then need to prime the primary case by adding 300ml in through the breather port at the top of the case.
Try Neobrothers or failing that Dave at Warwick Saab Centre in New Southgate. Thats where I got mine from. But you may find you don't need it, buy some Loctite 518 from ebay.
Also ask him about the original Saab thermostat.
You'll probably find the gasket comes off in one piece and is reusable. It's fairly thick and durable. As extra insurance use some loctite 518 on it. It's always worked for me.
