yea i saw the guy who is the cureator(spelling... sorry) for the museum on saabsunited said that they were going to sell it.... I also had a thought on getting some background... If you call from the museum you might be able to contact teh SCCA and see if they have some sort of a museum or anything like and see if maybe they might have some info on the car class that this comes from... just a thought

I did spend a bit of time when this was first posted. Basically to get the car "homologated" or legal in it's class, I forget whether it was SCCA or FIA, you had to take the plate off the "donor car" and put it on the formula car. I had all of this written down but lost the notes. The car or rolling chassis could have been from any number of shops who made them.

I remember reading this thread back when it was started and before I joined SC. Recently I was watching Auction Kings just by chance (I never watched it before) and I saw this car on it! They said it was a 1960's Saab Quantum 4 "Formula S" racer with an upgraded aluminium shell and I think it also had suspension mods. I am almost 100% certain that this is the same car. Very funny, after all of the head scratching when this started, they used a quick shot of this car on The Discovery Channel, "Auction Kings" as the poster above noted. It was at that Gallery 63 auction in Atlanta.

Gotta wonder if Delfino Ramos (the handyman who can fix anything), got that puppy humming in sweet Swedish.

I would have loved to see the actual auction and wonder if it was the show staff asking here about the origins? All of the "reality" (mostly BS), shows "drop back 10 and punt" to the net for pricing.

They had that spin off of Pawn Stars, Count's Cars chasing down a local split window Vette that I recognized as a local NJ car on last night. I knew the price for the Sebring Silver was a firm $150k and and when I heard him offer a tops of $125k you knew it was all for the camera.
