Also has one of those bolted flanges for the compressor exit. Our cars use a hose fitting.

If you're fitting a watercooled turbo then consider how many connections there are. x2 water, x2 oil, x2 to compressor, x2 to turbine... that's 8 connections. If you have to make changes to all the connectors then that's a lot of work and the money you save buying the cheaper turbo will be quickly eaten by all the other mods.

The other thing about that turbo in the picture is that it looks rather small. I doubt there would be any performance increase after fitting a turbo like that.

Our cars need what's known as a T3 turbo. It's the flange style and a rough guide to the size of the thing.

If you want to get deep into the science of it then there are so many possibilities when it comes to turbo design. Loads of types of turbo available.

A bit small???  The TD05-16G is a genuine 350bhp capable unit and may be a bit more if pushed.

Also worth noting that some Evo turbos spin backwards compared to the rest of the world so compressor outlets and turbine inlets are on the wrong side.
