key fob battery

I think the battery is dead on my key fob. What will the dealer charge me to fix it and do I have cheaper options. Thanks!

Hi Honauer,
I can only tell you what to do for a European 9-3, but try and it may well work. On the 9-3, open key fob/key and buy a battery the same as installed, (from Radio Shack or other retailer). After installing new battery, you must push the unlocking button at least 5 times within range of the car and remote. The 9-3 uses a Panasonic CR 2032 battery, but best check your key/car manual for specific model or phone and check with the service desk at your local main SAAB dealer, as they are often more helpful than you may expect! Hope this is helpful.
