Something missing??

Hello, Im new to this saab forum place. I have a '03 saab 9-5 and not sure if i have some kind of small pvc or hard pipe missing from the intake pipe. Another problem I have with the car is that it shows on the scanner that I have a random misfire.. im not sure if its the DI coil pack or the spark plugs. I would appreciate for some help, thanks!

Your pictures kinda blurry but there should be a plug in that hole. If there isnt one I would get it asap as your allowing additional unmetered air into the system....should throw a code non the less. The hard plastic piping is only on manual transmission cars.

Either you can pull the little plug that goes there out or it is missing.
not sure why the hole is there, but mine does have a little plastic plug there.
I put a little bit of silicone around it to help hold it in place and to make sure no air was leaking in.
Any air leak can show a random misfire as well as many other things.
If the hole is open that is most likely your problem.
if not check all vacuum hoses and intercooler hoses for leaks.
you can spray brake cleaner on the hoses and if there is a leak the engine will rev up for a second or so.

Thanks for the help! When I got the car there was a plug in that hole, after driving the car for a while I noticed that the plug was gone.. I spend time figuring what that hole was for and what should be attached to it, and I didnt find out myself. I realized that when reving up the engine there was a air leak through it, but no loss of the boost or power, the boost was in the red zone.

That hole is for cars that have standard transmissions and pull vacuum to assist the brake booster or something along those lines, i forget haha.
Cars with auto transmissions have a brake booster on the side of the engine so they dont need the hard tubing to the throttle body. Make sure you get a plug and plug that hole as unmetered air entering the system is not good and can cause all sorts of headaches

Thanks. I closed that hole and the car increased its performance compared to what it was before, which was kinda sluggish. When I closed that hole all check engine codes were gone, maybe for now.., except for one which is P0300 Random Misfire.

I would unplug the battery for 15 minutes, and then see if it comes back. if it does I would start checking plugs, Check over the Di and hope its not that. Another thing it could be is a failing CPS sensor which can cause erratic misfires and eventualy no hot starts

I have unplugged the battery for about couple minutes but I did it before I took care of the hole. When I unplugged the battery the c.e. light was off and was off when I went to the store to get the spark plugs and back. Im hoping that its not the failing DI which is causing the problem, btw how do you check the DI?

Yes, that is the black plug inside the red retainer ring.

No way to check the DI. The new ones will throw an assortment of misfire codes as they enter end of life but won't suddnely die without warning leaving you stranded in the dark rainy night along the side of an abandoned road as the early ones would do.

Yup. I remember that happening once. Although it was in the dark and SNOW in my case...
