Default Fuel tank repair

Fuel tank on my c900 has a hole on the top side (PO installed LPG system and they menaged to put a hole in the tank). So, I want to weld/repair it with some HDPE plastic and soldering iron. Anyone tried this before? Is it a good idea?

i used fuel resistant glue to seal a crack in my '91 tank several years ago. 3M.
Cannot remember which, JB weld is defined as fuel resistant if filling a hole.

Thanks!
May check for 3M glue, JB weld is not available where I live.
I was told to try with windshield glue...
I am leaning toward hdpe plastic as it is suposed to be the same material as fuel tank (is it?) so basically, it would be welding. If done right, there is no guessing if glue or some kind of seal would stick to plastic.

I have found some old thread where Jim M. suggested that PO would probably need to replace some fuel line after tank removal. Not sure if that was about that specific case where rear suspension welding was involved or I should expect some broken fuel lines(?). Could anyone (Jim) clarify this?
