Looks like it could be a pretty good deal. I don't see $4k in repairs though. And are the parts needed readily available though?

How did the drivers side lower trim stuff get torn off?

My dad bought mine as a fixer-uper for something like $3,300(06' 2.0T). It was wrecked on the driver side. Both doors had to be replaced, and the post had to be pulled out in the front. The fender also had to be pulled out a little, and had bondo work done to it. My dad owns a salvage yard though, so we had an extra 9-3. It all depends if you can fix it, and if the parts you find are cheap enough.

Even on cars with plenty of parts available the repair bills are astronomical, add the scarcity of some Saab parts and i can easily see 4K. Even if it is 4K you're better off just buying one for 6k and not worry about the hassle. The only reason you'd do it is to save a wad of cash.

I know a Jeep aint no Saab but my friend got in a pretty serious wreck with his Liberty in the front end. We managed to source a parts Jeep for $500 and fixed it like new.

I sourced a 05 93 that is being parted out locally.

The guy said that the bumper is in the car. He said it most likely can be repaired.

I looked closer at the pictures and it seems like the driverside wheel is on a bit of an angle. My guess is that it went up over a curb and thats how the sideskirt came off too or it could just be the way the ground is.

I'm going to let the car sit on Kijiji for a while and see if he will go any lower than $3k.

I was told by an ex-Saab mechanic to stay away. I'm just going to wait till I am serious about buying a Saab and just find a super clean Aero.

With those kind of miles a clutch was probably in the near future anyway and that would make it a tough pill to swallow even at 2k. Keep looking, I bought a 06 aero 6spd for 2k with 120K and one ROASTED clutch. I did the work myself and got into my aero for around 3500 counting new tires. Its worth no more than 2k the way it sits.

Just go see the guys at Beacon or Aktive and see if they can find you one. Won't be dirt cheap but they know these cars backwards. Beacon told me flat out to get the 2T cos the V6 would cost more in servicing as it's hard to work around.

Ahh but that 2.8T is just so sweet! I get to drive my friends Turbo X every now and then and that exhaust note is just unreal.

I guess in the end though the 2.0T is just a much better all around engine. Much easier on gas and capable of the V6's power with a tune.

Every 2.8 is a GM F40 transmission, it's a 6-speed. I might go grab this up if it's driveable... and build the motor for my Aero and part the rest of it out.

I asked the guy several times if its driveable and he said I'm more than welcome to take it for a spin down the country roads. I considered buying it just to part it out but don't have the time. There are alot of people out there looking for parts for these things. I'm sure you could make your money back and then some.

I say go for it! Only reason i'm not is because insurance at my age is a killer. This car would be in my driveway by now all fixed if it werent for the damn insurance :

Im located in Barrie too! Although my Saab 9-3 has been replaced with a Merc, I still have a soft spot for the 9-3. That car is question is an obvious insurance right off. I would not touch it as you can find decent runners for under 6K. You will loose you shirt if you pay 3K for that car. Parts and paint alone would run you up to at least 3K.
