I just got back from visiting the SAAB factory and the Museum in Trollhattan and sorry to say guys, but they're not at all optimistic about SAAB and Nevs purchase of it. They think it'll mainly be just for assets and if they ever even do create a car under the name of SAAB, it will be strictly for the Chinese Market.

Such a shame to see the factory with weeds growing out of cracks in the parking lot, faded sunbleached flags out front, and not a single soul in sight.

If NEVS rehires all or most of saabs old employees and uses the old saab factory in sweden, I will count then as successful. I think we can all agree that the saab cars division we all know and love is most likely dead for good. I dont think NEVS has even bought the rights to the saab name. IMO I think they just wanted a factory to try their buisness plan.

There is talk about about Nevs sub-contracting out to M&M to build petrol cars. I haven't read anything to back this up except on Saab United's website. Which are the same people who ran with the idea BMW made a bid for Saab.

Only time will tell.

Sad news unless your in China, if it is successful I would think they would expand out of China, Maybe to India?

I got back from Detroit a couple of weeks ago. Your description, describes the entire city of Detroit very well.

Geary, Indiana is the poster child for dead/dying cities. They even mentioned it as the case study on the series "Life After Humans".

Rumor has it that srmoose has a hoard of the best Saab of all, the car that defines "Saab", the Saab 600, would amaze. He is said to drive this gem only on moonless nights in Miami.

Maybe true maybe not...If you look at my picture you will see it is light outside which would rebuff your suspicions its only on moonless nights.

The "600" is the official car of the Miami Mushers dog sled team, note the carting capacity of Husky Vittles in this much maligned automotive gem.

My 1989 base 900 was made in Finland. Overall the car seemed fine when it was running. If it was running. Saab didn't have a clue why it didn't run. I think a bunch of the later verts were assembled in Austria?
