Oil Pressure and Oil Temp Gauges

I'm going to be installing an oil pressure and oil temp gauge and just wondering where i get the oil temp and oil pressure signal from? Can the factory oil pressure switch be used?

Also what time of gauge should i purchase (mechanical or electrical)? and what temp and pressure range is suitable for a 1988 900 aero?

The Saab (VDO) gauges use 1 to 5 Bar for pressure and the temperature is from 0c to 150c. Not sure what those values are in PSI and F..

Both are electrical controlled. The Temperature-sensor is originally located at the place of the engine-oil-drainplug and the pressure-sensor is located above the Oil filter.

Will this sender screw into the factory senders hole? Also is this suitable for a 100psi auto-meter gauge as well as the oil warning light? What does the resistance values mean (240-33Ohms)?

you need M14x1.5 for sender, and 0-5 bar for pressure,VDO part no. 360/028, or get all in one set for probably big money

You have been given the thread in this thread , Fred.

M14 x 1.5 , so yes its a direct screw in .

Will it work with your gauge ?

NO .

As the link you gave clearly states its for a VDO gauge with a range to 80 PSI ,

It also references an Ohms range compatibility that does not match your autometer gauge that you posted .. SO NO .... gawd knows where your readings will be , but you may as well guess your Oil pressure .

Gauges are matched to senders , go to the Autometer site to get a sender for your autometer gauge ... OR chuck the gauge in the bin and buy a gauge with a sender . Speco in Melbourne do a neat budget range of 50mm gauges that will be way cheaper than the sender you list . ( available at Repco or Bursons )

Watts do resistance values and Ohmns ratings mean ? Well that's about 4 years in Electrical engineering .

For the sake of simplicity in this thread it means it will not work . OHMNS law . or is it Watts ... perhaps both, Edison .

The location for your temp sender has already been advised .

Looks all compatible as it states its for a saab 900. So with the oil temp sensor, does screw into the oil drain plug or just on the sump near it?

Yes I want to use this too but is the Saab size option available? Out of the 5 there is the 16 thread 3/4 inch the one?
