I'm taking my '04 Linear in tomorrow for some work to be done. I plan on asking them and will post the response when I get it. By the way, my dealer is International SAAB in Falls Church VA, said to be the "premier SAAB dealer in the US", if you can believe that. Buying experience was great, though.

Just came back from the dealer. They claim that the Aux cannot be enabled till the end of this year. So much for that.

Thanks, Jet 9-3, maybe VFCPT and I can go to Hunt Valley SAAB. Funny, I wouldn't buy from them 'cause they did not return my call seeking a price quote. 0_3 Saab 9-3, how much did Hunt Valley charge you?

Hunt Valley didn't charge me anything to do it, i just said to them, i need you to turn on a TechII item for my stereo please one day when i popped in around lunch time. I asked if i could grab the girl (forget her name) if she was free. They said sure, she came out.. TII, i told her what it was Add/Remove, ICM, AUX.. done... 5 minutes later i was outta there and eatin my Chick Fil-A samich! haha.

But i did get my car there so they never charge me for TII, they may charge you guys, not sure, but on their fee chart, I believe TII changes are $27.50 or $37.50 dont remember.

I'm starting to get the impression that the ability for the dealer to make this change has to do with how current they've kept THEIR Tech II software. A buddy of mine works at a body shop and they do alot of business with a used car dealer that specializes in Saabs & Volvos and they tell him that some dealers don't always keep current because the software can be quite expensive.

Does that sound familiar/logical to anyone :-??

Plus, some of them proclaim ignorance. My dealer told me that the whole process wasn't a reality until the end of this year, whereas some members have been getting theirs done at some of these dealers. Either their ignorance is real, or they are lying. Either way shame on them.

Yeh i think that some of them dont keep their software updated, the girl that did mine said they had just updated all their software that week so it should have everything neccessary. I know the one they have connects wirelessly to their network or somthing and others connect via Cat5.

My dealer said they activated it... But I do not "see" it when I scroll through the "SRC" and "DISC" menus.

Does the "AUX" disply show up only after the input has been wired and a device "plugged in"?

Also,
Some one was making cable for this, are they still availible?
OR IS it possible to order the "euro" cable directly from Saab?

AUX should show up prior to anything even being attached or connected, at least it did in my case. You may need to press the DISC button 2-3 times.

Chad: I don't believe it is possible to get both parts of the cable to do the complete connection, so either making your own cable (http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23795) or getting one from episilon93 (http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/pr...profile&u=3492) are the two options.

huh.. well then I have NO "AUX" .. And the Dealer wrote right on the service paperwork.. "AUX input enabled"...

MOZ- Thanks for the link.. I guess was too lazy to consider making my own. I find it hard to believe that no one has the part numbers for the Saab part... if our European brothers have it in thier cars.. Saab must have a number for it.
At the very least I'd like to get a hold of the end that plugs into the HU.

MKB is not willing to enable Aux at this time. I sent my service rep directing him to this thread...

Saab Nashua North
Merrimack, NH

I had no problems getting them to do this - the service manager said he had already done a couple of these. He also knew about the update to get the disc numbers in the high display. The best part was that they considered the programming part of "adjustments" within the one year warranty period for same, and didn't charge me a cent!

Default International Saab in VA

This is what International Saab told me today:

Quote:
I just talked to Saab Technical Services. They say that this feature will not be available until 2005 models. We can enable the AUX feature but I don't know what good it would do you. If you were to wire it yourself you would run the risk of voiding the warranty if something happens. I don't know of anyone trying this yet. Let me know if you have any other questions.

B&B Saab (in Santa Clara, CA) activated my Aux.

At first, Marc (my service guy) said that he could not enable it. I asked "why not, other people on the Internet have had it done; some have had it done at Burlingame [a nearby dealership owned by the same people]" and provided the instructions from here:

http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/vi...light=aux+tech

This is the same guy who told me (and apparently others) that "you can't believe everything you read on the Internet" when I asked about getting my DRLs off a while ago, so I figured he'd say the same thing.

Something must have changed there, though, because he said "okay, I'll call around and figure out how to do it." (Though he did try to say he'd have to charge for it; when I pointed out that the record book indicated that Intermediate Service, which I was in for, included customer option changes, he immediately backed down on charging).

When I got my car back yesterday, aux was enabled! I never thought I'd be so happy to hear hissing coming from the speakers. Now I can't wait to get epsilon93's cable.
