Default 1995 900SE Turbo Convertible fuel issues

I purchased this car 3 weeks ago, and for the first week and a half she ran fine. Now she won't stay running. She'll run for a bit then it acts like no gas is getting to engine (car still runs but engine provides no power and dies when brake is applied). After 30 seconds or so, she'll start back up, then die shortly after. Just replaced the fuel filter last night, yet the problem persists. Any other options to check?

Probably the fuel pump. If it's the original one, it's about time to replace it. I'll be doing mine in the near future.

Thanks. That was going to be my next line of investigation unless someone had a different idea.

It sounds like the pump is running briefly and then stopping. You can easily check this for yourself by listening carefully (or having someone listen at the back of the car). If banging the tank gets it to run a bit longer, then it's the pump all right.

I'll give that a go when my brother gets free, thanks.

Fuel pump replaced, same issues, except now it won't crank. CPS issue, or FP relay issue?

What do you mean by "won't crank". Does the starter turn the engine?

If the starter is turning the engine but the engine won't start, have you confirmed that the new pump is running and producing pressure at the fuel rail?

It ran like it had been (runs a while, then stalls, wait, started back up, etc. a backfire here and there). Now it won't turn over at all.
