Hi All just popped in from 'Volvo world' to promote the above Saab/Volvo event, hope this is okay & thanks for reading
"Des Trolls en Brocéliande" 2012.
Plans are now well under way for the 2012 edition of Des Trolls en Broceliande, a friendly meeting of Saab & Volvo owners which is ideal for all the family to enjoy.
The plan this is year to make the meeting 'bigger & better'. Sponsorship is being arranged & it is planned to be over the weekend of 14-15/07/12.
The location is Concoret, which is set in the beautiful forest of Broceliande in Southern Brittany, France.
Last year saw a mix of people, French, English & some Dutch. Also some stunning vehicles attended:
The program is planned to be as follows, (slight changes may be made) as a further meeting is planned prior to the event. All times are 'flexible'.
Sat 14/07/12
1000hrs: Depart in convoy to Monteneuf - http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=9342 This is about a 35Km pleasant drive. On arrival you will have time to have a good look around the site of these Pierres Droites ( Standing Stones) . There will also be time to enjoy a pic-nic lunch.
Also planned is an en-route stop in Monteneuf itself, so if you have not got your pic-nic, you may be able to sample some of the 'local delights'.
1500hrs: Return to site of the event at Concoret, where the vehicles will be lined up for photo shoots, organisers will prepare for the evening & papers (english & french) will be issued for those wishing to enter The Concours Automobile des Trolls on the Sunday. Worry not, this is not a true Concours, all vehicles welcome to enter for fun, wether cleaned up or your 'daily hack Volvo/Saab' . Of course, waxed Swedish beauties are more than welcome! LOL.
For those interested a slide show & talk on 'alternative fuels'/ 'remapping' may go ahead during the afternoon.
1800hrs. Aperitifs in the Community Hall, these will be 'regional specialities' such as Kir & Kir Breton. There will not be a bar, as such. The idea is for folks to bring there own 'regional specialities' for others to sample.
1930hrs: Supper will be available in the hall – there are two possibilities at the moment, one is to have it pic-nic style, where folks can bring items from there 'region'/country for others to sample, or Traditional, Crepes, Gallettes, Ciders and Beers of Brittany.
2100hrs, A display of Traditional Danses Bretonnes, followed by a mix of US & English 'sounds' 'disco style, final plans tbc.
Sunday 15/07/12
Morning, Parts sale & exchange, so bring any bits and bobs you no longer need. The preference being towards all things Saab & Volvo, but if you have anything else you think might sell......
O/C the vehicles entered will be positioned for judging. Entry forms will be issued to those who missed the Saturday 'issue', & judging to commence.
1200, last call for entry forms followed by aperitifs.
Pause for lunch:
2 possibilites, 1) A hog roast. 2) Pic-nic.
(The hog roast, at present is down to how many people would be interested to make it viable).
For the children, a Bouncy castle is planned for the Sunday (may be not too soon after lunch eh?).
1400hrs. Results of the concours & 'prize giving' .
Following this a relaxed afternoon is planned, with the possibility of guided tours of some of the most popular sites within the area.
The site is planned to be cleared by 1800hrs.
The emphasis is on this being a fun event for all.
More information will be added as things unfold.
There is a website forum dedicated to this event:
http://des-trolls.forumgratuit.fr/
A free forum, which has an 'International Section' - http://des-trolls.forumgratuit.fr/f13-international-forum-welcome-foreign-friends
Feel free to join & participate, either in French ( or Franglais like me) you will be made very welcome, if needed I can assist to convert your English posts into Franglais! That said many of the French members speak extremely good English, so don't be shy, give it a try!
There is a list of accommodation possibilities on the forum including Hotels, Campsites & Gites. Also I have one gite available here: http://www.gitessouthbrittany.com/ situated about 1hr from the event.
