Default Rear Motor Mount Conundrum (it's stuck!)

I'm trying to replace the rear motor mount. I got the big 16mm off no problem and all three 10mm eventually (it takes a fair amount of joint dislocation, but you can get them all from the top).

BUT... only two of the 10mm's will come out of the hole. The drivers side front 10mm pulls up about 3/4 of the way and then hits the transmission and won't come the rest of the way. It's loose enough for the motor mount to tip back (there is a slot cut in the bracket so the top can tip through), but it stops/gets hung up on the bolt that won't come out.

I have jacked up the transmission (which could, theoretically, give me the clearance to get the nut out) but if that is the answer, how do I know when I've jacked too far. I'm not even sure if that's the trick. Anyway, I can't believe I'm the first person to encounter this, but I've found lots of write ups on the front and torque mounts, but little about the rear.

Thanks for your help!
Paul

I should be writing this up w/ photos -- I couldn't find one on line for the rear mount.

When I removed mine to drop the subframe I found taking the whole bracket off the transmission helped with the removal...maybe give that a try and see if it helps

I jacked it up just a hair more and it slid out. Now for the life of me, I can't get the new one to slide in. So close! I'll see about moving that bracket -- maybe just loosening it.

That's what I had to do to get it back on. The bracket came off pretty nicely, but then I had the exhaust pipe on the ground from doing the sump job so that may have improved my access. All in all, I'd say doing the rear mount from the top is the way to go. We'll see if it make a difference (the old one didn't look so bad).

Glad you got it all sorted out. When I did mine one of my bolts snapped, and luckily I was dropping the subframe so I was able to drill it out and replace it. But man was that rear bolt taking me for a ride. Had it not been for replacing my clutch, I would have just left it alone even if it was bad....well, to an extent until i bothered me enough

You know I see so many people say to drop the exhaust to do the sump, but when I did mine I never had to drop it. wasnt in my way either when I removed or reinstalled it, so not sure why so many people do that
