just installed a combo boost/airfuel guage from glowshift. boost guage and all lighting works but the air fuel wont read????? the guage is for a narrow band and just wanted to make sure thats what saabs run stock and not a wideband. I feel like a dumb a** askin but couldn't find it on any other threads.

Well, it is same does the narrow band work, or doesnt it, its useless. You need a wideband to get some real info.
Well, does your gauge come with lambda, or do you use your old one? Best is to have 2 lambdas on the pipe, one for the ecu on other for your gauge. Woldnt rather to do that for an narrowband. Or i maybe you steal the signal for your ecus lambda to your gauge? |

box up that gauge and send it back lol
narrowband is virtually useless the only thing it does is tell you if the O2 sensor is working. |

it also tells you if its runing lean, optimal, or rich. no it doesn't tell me the exact ratio but all i need to know is if its runing the way its suppose to be and if it starts to lean out to much i can back off so i don't melt things. this is a dd not a race car. maybe later on down the road when i plan on putting real power to the wheels(600+) then i'll worry about the specifics.

the moment you hit the throttle the gauge will show rich (in other words more rich than 14.7:1) it wont say how much though, so you might still be too lean and when you come off the throttle and get into over-run then the gauge will show lean it only tells you if the O2 sensor is working. these narrowband gauges do work great on "analog" cars. but with a "digital" car like yours, you will benefit much more off a wideband EDIT: If you're car is not running the way it's supposed to then it will most likely though a CEL with a code. Which further exemplifies why I think you should send it back and get your money back. Im just trying to help as I've been there. I bought a narrowband and a week later I sent it back and sourced a Wideband gauge Last edited by grkguy89; 01-08-12 at 05:41 PM. |
