Hey guys,

If you are doing this or something similar, make sure to keep the ICM panel! I had to replace mine. I took it apart and hid it behind the dash. It also improves the sound quality when the panel is installed.

I believe there is a light sensor on the ICM panel to monitor the cabin lighting at night, which will control the interior lighting. When I first did this, I noticed the interior lights were dimmer, but today I just installed some mini LED lights by the light sensor on the ICM panel and hopefully this will fix the issue.

REALLY? Are you really happy with that result? I can appreciate how much work went into it, but I wouldn't want that in my car. It looks kinda like a really rough clay sculpture, not really finished too well. But if you like it, that's what's important.

I really love the tablet idea though. And i totally respect the way you just go balls to the wall with the project. What i think throws me off is the empty spaces on each side, I'm so used to seeing the whole space filled up with the archaic oem unit. But you'll have the pleasure of using it, and i bet it sounds ans operates sweetly.

oh yeah, it is definitely cool. it has navigation, music, connects with torque to my car via bluetooth, and connects to my phone for messaging and phone calls.

the reason it has gaps is because eventually i plan on replacing it with a nexus 7 (or whatever the newest 7 inch tablet is). when i replace the tablet i'll have everything but the screen covered.

Hey Derek, no i didn't mean the gaps caused by the tablets frame/border. I meant the empty grey dash areas, like between the tablets opening and the sidc on the left, and the right between the it and the end of the dash plates rounded end. Unfortunately it can't be helped because they don't make a long skinny rectangle tablet that would be as long as the original icm. Lol, ya know. But to have bt, nav, etc. would be awesome to me. Good job, enjoy it buddy.

ohhh, yeah. the ICM button dash just looks awesome. hell, that's one of the reasons I bought my car. and i definitely miss the look of it. but i'm a tech guy, and android guy, so this was inevitable for me

but if anyone can give suggestions on how to improve things i'd appreciate it.

i also configured tablet talk (android app) to allow me to dial phone numbers, and my parrot mki9000 mutes the stereo and tells me who is calling and i can answer it by saying answer. i took apart the parrot microphone and wired it where the mesh is for the microphone that I assume would go there in the european models with the built in phone function.

I quite like it actually.

It looks a little wobbly in places, but I like the sunk-in look.
