Thanks to Simon I've now swapped my old tyres at the front (one P6000 and one Falken) for two Dunlop sp200es.
I'm extremely pleased with them. Not only were they cheap (GBP 90 for a pair)but the handling of the car has been improved dramatically. In particular, the car is now much less affected by white lines and furrows in the road. Previously it would wander all over the place and I had thought that worn bushes might be responsible. Now the car is rock steady. Some of this, I suspect, can be put down to the much more rigid sidewalls that the Dunlops appear to have.
Dry weather grip seems good althought I haven't tried wet weather grip yet.
