No offence, but I will never understand this. For me this is like putting plastic covers on a couch so it won't looked used or wear down, but for who? For the next guy who buys this car? In the mean time you have to drive around with your beautiful SAAB half hidden. Strange. |

I agree. There are times when i may be on the highway for 5 hours, where i would have loved to have this bra. City driving, i dont think its worth it to be honest. Small paint chips can always be touched up by a pro if you are detailed oriented.

NICE!.. Got me a bra also... you should think about getting the Mirror Bra also.. which is pretty unique.. Got it on mine as well. On a black car a bra is a MUST..

Looks pretty good and a great idea - I have a black 05 Aero - after a year it has a few rock chips at the very front of the hood just above the grill and a couple on the drivers front fender - I keep it detailed and waxed which does help. Where you really notice the damage is on the plastics of the lower skirt - mine is just chipped to hell. For protection it seems excellent and good looking. To me - when I am doing triple digits - is when I wouldn't want it on there - isn't it going to hurt the aerodynamics - maybe it is on their good but at 125mph I think it would flap around a bit - check it out - hopefully I am wrong - if I do another new car I might check out the 3M clear stuff - for a black car it makes sense. The big thing with black is the swirl marks - those you can see from a distance - minor rock chips and such you really need to be up close and in a strong light - plus in the Detroit area where I work that thing would get jacked so fast - probably the best looking bra I have ever seen - on a car that is.

Of course, you have a point there, rock chips are inevitable and a pain in...
But so are doors being slammed in to a car on a parking lot but this doesn't mean I wanna cover my car in plastic. But hey, that's just me. I'm regularly on the German Autobahn, if I see a dressed SAAB I'll know it's you. Greetz |

I have used Colgan products in the past and they are very well constructed. Probably the best made.
However, you can not escape the fact that you have something that is rubbing on your paint especially at speed. You can wax before you put it on, wax after, I did everything possible to make sure the paint would not be scruffed - made no difference. Over time it was. Plus it was a real pain in the rear to remove it when it rained which it really should be. This is why I switched to the clear plastic mask by 3M for the leading edge of the hood. Same results without any paint scuffing problem. And on black paint! best of luck. Jaime |

Is it a B or a double D?
How'd you get the red brake calipers? Paint 'em yourself? Quote:

have to say that i'm in agreement with Toemke, I can see the point that you are protecting the paint, but personally I think they look bad (not in the cool sense) but each to his own.

Hello fortyb......Can you provide the part number for the Colgan Bra? I have contacted Colgan and they claim they do not make a bra for a 2006. The bra looks like a good fit. Your car appears to be an Aero.....do you know if the bra is the same for the 2.0T?
Thanks, AMF |

Fortyb, check the edge contact points every so often. Use a good poly-acrylic sealant (Klasse) or wax on your hood to keep it slippery. This is to defend against dust and pebbles that get lodged in between (bra and hood) and begin to scrub your paint....which will look much more unsightly with swirls and marring than the rock chips you're trying to prevent in the first place. (very noticeable on black or other dark colors)
