I know this issue plagues just about all of us, however I am running into a problem in locating the two small hoses from the expansion tank that run to or from the turbo. This is for an '06 9-3 aero with the 2.8L.
My car is in the shop and was told they are struggling to find a solution and may have to wait for the parts to come from across the pond ~ 1 month. I really don't want to be without my car for that long so does anyone know where to find these hoses? I guess the challenge is that sometime after the '06 model year they changed the style of those hoses / tank so that they are the same diameter at either end - not the case with mine (go figure). Anyone know of any 9-3's that have been totaled recently but still have usable parts? Thanks! |

Not sure if they have in stock, but Eeuroparts "appears" to have the 2.8T expansion tank kit, with the hoses.

I just scored a set of these impossible to find hoses from my local Saab dealer....one of the parts guys who has been there forever ran them down once he figured out that there is a new part number for a "kit" of these two hoses that was shipped to them when the new 9-5 was launched. Once you open the bag, the two hoses are printed with the exact part numbers our 2.8T needs....
Let me see if I can find the bag still.... Sean

I bought 2 generic cornered coolant hoses from my local auto parts store.
the hoses I believe are 3/8" both sides. the hoses fit just fine, have had them on for a year. They don't go to the turbo, they go to the engine. the sizing on the tank is bigger than the insert on the engine but the hoses will fit with some elbow grease. There is no difference btwn 06 to 09 aeros, same car and engine/turbo. You don't need a shop, can be done yourself in your driveway.

Thanks guys! I'll try the expansion tank kit, even though I only need the hoses. Figured I'll only replace what I need to now.

OK, I used a kit for the new 9-5 and they worked great. I was using some generic hose, but after a few months you can see the heat is starting to effect them.
9-5 2.8T Coolant Hose kit (L and R hose): 93194927 (1613023) Each hose has a part nunber on it: 13279791 and 13279790 The hoses I took off (put on with coolant tank recall): 12842477 and 12842478. Coast was about $10 for the new kit, versus $35 or so for the 2 old ones if you can find them. Sean
