So I was driving home on Sunday afternoon and all my electronics decided to go black. It was almost as if the car went into stealth night mode (where you only see the speedometer light up). I played with the light wheel to the left of the steering wheel and there was no change. Thought it might be a battery issue but all lights in the car worked and the electronics would come on if I engaged them (minus the odometer). Thought it was weird but then it became more weird when I got home and turned off the car and turned it back on (waited to do this because I had a 2hour car ride home and didn't want to shut off the car only to find it not restart and be stranded). When I turned the car on again everything came on like normal and the car seemed to be fine but when I looked at the odometer I immediately noticed it hadn't moved. I put probably around 100 miles on the car and the odometer still read what it did when I started the trip, confirmed by looking at the trip portion that only read 79 miles (should have been closer to 200). So, any ideas on what happened?

Your dimmer switch has failed, again, I think this is a breakdown of the soldered connections....causing all sorts of weird and erratic malfunctions.
I have a similar problem with the '96 bluebird dimmer switch....also with a Sony TV model 1947....about 20 to 40 years ago....when this cold soldering process began.

If the cluster was out and the odometer was not working, it's likely either the connector to the cluster or the cluster itself.
Try whacking the top of the dash with your hand and see if the lights go on or off. |

EW, my 1976 MGA TV is still working great, even with the external HDTV converter. I got rid of the old TVs years ago... Ron
