Rustoleum has some new paint that gives a mottled finish. They call it hammered and it's intended to hide flaws and does a nice job doing just that on the cast calipers. I used the silver and it gives lighter and darker shades of silver and looks pretty good. They have a new can and sprayer design which I do not like. Every time I pulled the trigger it dripped all over my fingers. Sprayed fine at any angle though. It also comes in a black, dark bronze, brown and copper.

VHT high heat caliper spray paint. Just paint everything...caliper, bracket, and rotor. The pads scrape the paint off of the rotors and it stays everywhere else that makes it look good (hat and vents). Plastidip on the rims, not VHT.

Red against Midnight Blue Metallic:
Note: Yes, I should have painted the brackets too as they're all rusty. It's been 3 years since I did this and they're starting to show signs of wear. I'm going to go back in and do it again soon. |

Surprised that I didn't see anyone with blue here... (unless I missed it) I really like the way it matches my centercaps on the 97x. G2 paint could have been a touch darker, but close! Just did this about a week ago...
The front... The back... Final total picture...

The only time I think a painted caliper can look good in any other color but red is yellow on a porsche 911

Did you use vinyl for the lettering on the calipers, or paint?

Yes, first a company that claims that it used 'heat resilient' vinyl in Europe, "ubernine" on eBay, then had a local company using regular vinyl make them for me. If you use a local company they should be able to make custom ones with the correct fonts (logos). Usually for $25.00 or so for a few sets of 4.

Is spraying everything like you did dangerous?

I've done it on my last two vehicles with zero issues. Don't cake it on too heavy and it will work itself off after a couple of days. Just do several light coats. The brakes moan and groan while it's cleaning the paint off the rotor, but it stops just fine. I did mine months ago and they still look perfect too.

The spray just does not provide the powder coat finish like G2 provides!
