Need to get a replacement Key '05 9-3

Here in the US both local dealerships have claimed the keys are on backorder for the last 8 months! So I've gone about searching for a replacement elsewhere. The service guy told me he can only program a virgin key. He did put me onto this site: clearcontech.com who seem to have replacement emergency 'pods' that you can get that don't have the emergency key (steel) but are programmable to start the car. The price isn't listed, of course. There is a hard to find link on the site to lostsaabkeys.com. There they will sell me a new FOB for the basement cost of $595 usd.

So my question; Does anyone have any suggestions on other options that work? This place above needs me to remove the CIM module and ship it to them to do the key. Return shipping included, Haha.

The dealership guy mentioned that keys in Canada are different 'shape' than in the US but didn't know if they were actually functionally different. How about any of you guys in the UK?

all the fobs for the 9-3ss are the same which ever country your in..

here in the uk the fobs have been available for a while now,i bought a new one from my dealer couple of weeks ago,they had cleared all their back orders,and still had stock in when i picked mine up..

That's good news at least. The dealerships here both claimed the price was in flux, they quoted me about $70, that's about 44 pounds? I wonder if the dealership would ship it stateside.

uk keys(fobs) tend to be more like £50 ish

neo bros have them in stock and should be happy to do international postng
