How many of you guys have window tint on your Saab and what percentage of tint? Do any NJ residents here get a hard time for having front windows tinted? Pics would be great if you wish to post them.
I'm about get my wagon tinted, I was quoted $220 for all windows, $180 for rear from a reputable tint shop, North of Philadelphia. I think I'll go 20% rear and 30% front to help avoid any window tint fines. I personally think window tint looks fantastic on our cars. |

Tint fines with 30%? What's the maximum legal tint in your state? I thought in most places it was something around 60-70%. I must be seriously mis-informed.

I've never had a tinted vehicle and a couple months ago I got my rear done with 20% and it's PERFECT. I was worried it would be too dark, but it's just right. It's very neutral on the eyes with people behind you at night and still plenty visible, 35% seems like you'd still be getting a little bit annoyed at night. If it counts for anything, the guy I went to had 20% all around on his vehicle, but for me, being blinded at night was the big thing, so I'm not too worried about the sides.
Definitely get 20% on the back, as for the sides, I'm probably going to go with 35%, (I don't think they make 30%.) -jason

I was never painted a car and a couple of months ago I returned to 20% and is perfect. I was worried that it would be too dark, but it is just right. It 's very neutral in the eyes of people behind you at night and much more visible, 35% feel like you're still getting a bit' annoying at night. If you ever go down, the boy who had gone to about 20% of all cars, but I was blinded by the night was a big problem, so I'm not too worried about the hips.

A lot of this stuff can vary from town to town. You say Philly so I assume you are from "south".
In a town like Cherry Hill a Saab may not attract attention, in Camden a tint who cares, the mayor just missed a murder rap by allegedly rubbing out the only witness, Hizzonner did do 7 years for dealing drugs and they just laid off like 50 cops. Is Camden going to stop you for tint? Bungee a body to the rack of the Combi and they might? For like 18 years my wife drives the car and parks in the lot nose to nose with the local PD. My son drives the car down the main street once and he gets a ticket for "obscured tag" (same Saab), since the Kerbek license holder obscured the words "Garden State". 18 years ago when he car was two days old she got pulled over for failure to inspect. Kerbek forgot to put the new car sticker on the night we bought it and they were nice and paid the ticket but .. My point is that "officer discretion" can vary town to town or ... who knows? i've had 5% tint on everyone of my vehicles and i used to get pulled over a couple times a week but for the past year i havent had any issues. now when i bought my saab it came with 15% tint and i have been told by police that the tint is what makes the vehicle look good. but it really does vary if its a local or state trooper and what state your in

This is a very neutral eye with people behind you at night and there are a lot of shows, 35% seems like you're still a newbie a little annoyed at night. What if convicted, this guy I went to about 20% are in his car, but for me, the big blind at night thing, so I'm not too worried on both sides.

First there is the advantage of not being able to see into the car. So if you're a woman traveling alone at night, no problem villains do not see you run with you. Second, when people can not see inside your car, they can not see your laptop, cell phone, etc.. Lying on the couch.

personally i like the look of a darker tint...but maybe its becuase im young.
if you live in NJ though idk about the cops down there. You can't go wrong with a darkish/// say 15% maybe a low 10% but i like the 15% to the 25% range...anything lighter than that looks to factory for me. also GOOGLE images are you best friend |

Don't go any darker than 20% transmission on the rear window, if you do it'll be tough backing up at night.
In CA I normally go about 35% on front side windows (since technically none is allowed), 5% on rear side windows, and 20% on rear window. Having 5% on the rear side windows makes the front sides look much lighter by comparison, and seems to help avoid being pulled over. (knocking on wood...) If you can do it given the laws of your state, having 20% all-around really cuts down on heat and glare and looks great. |
