The 9-3SS does not have the exact same engine as the Chevy Malibu. There are a number of differences.
How about the 9-2X? Same or different from the Subaru. Any literature to document it? |

Hey man I'm pretty sure its exactly the same as the WRX model except for the exhaust, ecu, body work. The "SAAB" additions to the base WRX were adding things such as the steering rack from the STI and adding some sound deadening material around the car. Look up some old articles on the ride or check some Scooby forums you should find what you are looking for.
And no MX the lights are not supposed to light up, sad but true. |

When I was shopping for one, our now out of business dealer and my mech said to look under the hood and the only place you will find "Saab" is on the hood badges, and wheel.
The entire car is badged "Fuji Heavy Industries". 2005 had the Linear with the 2.5 motor and the Aero (turbo), with a 2.0 but 2006 brought a change to both cars having the 2.5 (normally aspirated and turbo), but the Aero turbo only gained like 3 horsepower with the bigger motor. Following another forum, it sure sounded like all of the parts were right off the Subbie shelf and that makes perfect sense since the production numbers were so low. Honestly, there were more, way more Corvair Turbo's built than the entire production line for the Linear and Aero in it's sad two short years of production. I will confess to having never even found one to drive since I was being picky and wanted a 2006, 2.5 Aero turbo. Then I found out between the US and Canada there were only like 600 made. No, I am not confusing this with Turbo X .... the numbers were very low. There were also comments about having problems solved by Subbie dealers if you could find one to let you in the door, because the Saab boys were stumped by the Jap iron. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH CAREY RUSS
Saab, at the moment, is one of the ``other'' European premium brands, and probably not the one that comes to mind for most people when asked to name a European sport-luxury car maker. =========== Automotive Parts |

And this is a big reason why many of us are proud owners of a not-so-well-known car...whoever you are...
