Did this today with the modular CAI parts from Autozone. What do you guys think?
If you have any suggestions of a better spot to put it, please *please* let me know. That flex pipe can stretch a long way. parts were only 59 at the store, K&N kit is 66, and looks exactly the same (Air filter, clamp, black flextube)

It looks like you turned you factory CAI into a hot air intake

Eek..
Not only are you sucking in hot air that radiates from the block, you added a nice S bend to constrict airflow into the intake. I'd go back to stock.

yeah, me too.
Thing is, if it was better like that, why didn't Saab do it like that? I did a proper cold-air intake on my 99t16 but going to do it again. Now that I have no air-mass-meter I can put a very short pipe and an air-fliter just next to the turbo. Foam air filter, very small restriction to flow. ![]() Conical mounting point for filter to slot into at bottom of inner wing area. ![]() Filter sitting in the tube ![]() All the wonky pipes going to the compressor inlet. This is the bit I'm going to get rid of. Not at all happy with the distance, number of joints, type of material, not really any aspect of this design actually. ![]() That air filter is fed by an ovalised and sharpened tube which points into the air flow at the front of the car. This is the design to create a ram-air effect. i.e. as you drive forward the intake tube is cutting a column of air which stops air bouncing off the sides and rams as much as possible into the intake tube.
