Unhappy Fuel Pump and Rear Brake Light

All,
I have been searching the forum and reading threads for 2 hours and cannot find the help I need. I am resorting to a new post .

1. When I turn my key to on just before "start" I hear the fuel pump turn on followed by a loud clank noise that I can almost feel in my seat. Is this the pump failing or on it's way out? If so, can someone give me a more detailed direction or a better way than telegrammatic's shelf bracket technique to remove the black plastic ring?

2. My tail light needs help. I have a wagon and the reflectors on the liftgate have holes melted in them from the bulbs. Even worse is the assembly that holds the brake light bulb has been cooked beyond repair. I need the Saab Community's help in tracking down new reflectors and the fixture that the brake bulb go into. I will post pictures later today.

Thanks for your time everyone.

Never heard of reflectors being melted by the heat from the bulbs! Are they the correct wattage bulbs for the 9-5? They sound like they are too high wattage wise. You can get reflectors from either GenuineSaab or a US based Saab breaker whose name i forget at the moment. (help me out here US members)

I believe you are correct, the wrong wattage bulb was installed. I cannot find the reflectors on GenuineSaab.com.

Default BUMP w/ Pictures

All,
I am attaching a few pictures of my brake light issue. Can you all help me find out if I can purchase the gray bulb fixture in the pictures and also the best place to get the actual reflector that is melted?
