so that's about 2400km's......a bit low imo. I change my oil every 6000 to 7000km and usually gets dark around the halfway point.
Are you using the oem filter? Mabey it's the weather cause I know you guys are getting some heat in the lower main land.

No worry about color unless prior to this change the oil was not changed regularly.

My car has 58000km on it and has had a total of nine oil changes since it was fisrt puchased by the previous owner in May2004. I intend on having the oil changed every 5000km and may get them to flush out the system next oil change. Thanks for all your responses.

With 36K, That's an Oil Change every 4000 miles....you don't think that's a bit extreme? I'm getting ready to crack 100K, I change every 7.5K which some will still say is early and have no problems. You could use Mineral changing at 4/5K. |

I wouldn't worry at all.
My car does the exact same thing, if anything, it just helps me read the oil level on the dipstick.. |

My car is an ex-lease that appears to have done 90pc of its service around town - just like I do. I have replaced the tires with BFGoodrich g-force sport all-seasons and have noticed how much smoother my progress is. It had a main service last August and I changed the oil in April of this year. Saab keeps telling me it needs a service but Ill be damned if I know what needs servicing as the manual mentions just an oil change. I reckon they are trying to get me to part with my cash. I think Im gonna get a wheel alignment done soon since I have had the new tires on for two weeks already. All that needs fixing in the rattling from the front drivers side and the blasted humming but thanks to this forum, I already know what the issues are there. zippy |

You could easily do 8K miles on an full Synth Oil change. Saab Main Services, at the 30 K Intervals include re-tweeking suspension, tensioner and other stuff. At 60 K Intervals they recommend Plugs, Serpentine belt and the Tensioner if needed.
