Default Saab 9-5 rollover accident pictures

Hi all,
Unfortunately, my long-treasured/loved Saab 9-5 has departed from my heart, and into the depths of the junkyard...
My sister borrowed my car, and was driving in the highway in Canada when some other car hit her from in the rear bumper (like the PIT maneuver that American police use to cause cars go out of control). Of course this caused the car to lose control and at 85 MILES per hour, the car turned sideways and did a 4x rollover, and fell into the grass ditch between the two highways. Thank God that we bought a Saab, and everyone was safe (besides being shocked at the time).

Passengers in car at time of accident:
My sister, my brother, her 2-yr old daughter, and my mother.
Everyone was safe, with just minor cut on my sister's head (fully healed now).

This is real-life proof of Saab's safety reputation. Family is much more important than losing a car...

Well said, but that looks scary and the car looks like she was well loved too

Better the car give up its life than a member of your family. I'd say for 4 rolls the car looks remarkably intact.

It's amazing no one was seriously hurt. I hope the driver that caused this accident stopped to help.

Impressive how well it stood up to a 4X roll over.

Very glad to hear your family is all ok.

Does this mean it's ok to drive fast in my 9-5 then?

The Airbags only go off if there is enough front or side damage. As the front is nearly intact and the doors donīt have enough damage to hurt the passengers - the airbags donīt go off.

Default Amazingly intact

My wife had a rollover accident earlier this summer in a 1995 GMC Jimmy. (actually an 1/2 corkscrew onto the roof).

The damage was as seen in the following link:

Curious what kind of Car seat was being used? Amazingly good shape for an 85mph rollover. Are the occupants whiplashed at all??? That was my wifes biggest complaint.

Wow... the entire passenger cage stood up to that extremely well. It's amazing that they got out without serious flesh wounds.

This car served its purpose - and served it well.

Some of us dont think of it much, but many people died over the years for crash safety to be improved on vehicle designs.

Glad everyone is ok.

Yes, it is an amazing car, and of course God's help.

There were no injuries besides a minor cut that healed in 2 weeks on my sister's forehead. I was also amazed the airbags didn't go off. No one experienced any whiplashes, and all the luggage in the car also remained intact (nothing fell out during the accident).

The car that hit the Saab didn't stop to help, unfortunately...
But 10 other people did.

Aren't saabs the best investment for a safe car?

Default Did someone at least get a license plate....

or did the police later catch the a*****e that hit them? If not then I hope the other person gets what is coming to them at some point.

Airbags never went off in my wife rollover either. Police said something about needing direct frontal hits to set them off. Not sure about that.

Did they need the jaws of life to get out or were people able to get the doors open?

By the way, replace the car seat ASAP. Insurance will cover the cost of car seat replacement (with whatever seat you decide on, so get a good one), no questions asked.
