Default Water/Oil in Air intake box

This is a problem with a '86 8V carb 900 with 94k miles on the clock...

A few days ago while doing a standard check of the engine, I found that there was water mixed with oil in the air intake box - quite a bit of it in fact.
It appears to be comming from the rocker cover breater hose which attaches to the air intake box.
When I remove the rocker cover breather hose, and rev the engine, there are what looks like exaust fumes comming out of it - likewise with the oil filler tube.

I`m guessing its the head gasket on the way out? The strange thing is that the water is perfectly clean with no traces of oil in it; and is not under pressure.

Anyone have any ideas what else it could be appart from the head gasket?

Thanks in advance!

Ben

do you live in a colder more humid climate? i know somewhere i ahve ehard about condensation getting in there somewhere. Does it smell like coolan't?

headgasket symptoms are : white smoke out of tail, loss of power, water int he oil (can look like mayonaise is int he oil or if really bad oil will look like a chocolate milkshake)-some (tiny bit) mayo in the oil is once again common from what i have heard in the cooler more humid climates! check the coolant resevoir for oil, you can even check the condition of the sparkplugs.
