Default DKW engine in Saab 93

i have a question did Saab 93 (1956-1960) use a 748cc 53hp 3 cylinder Twostroker engine from DKW?

btw is DKW a shortening for Deutsche Kraft Wagen?

No. It's a 3-cyl 750cc engine, but it's not from DKW, it's a SAAB-specific engine. The early SAAB 92 prototypes used engines that were borrowed from a DKW, but by the time SAABs went into production they had their own engine.

Some interesting pics of DKW engines here http://www.dyna.co.za/cars/specs.htm
The overhead fanshaft motor looks almost identical to Saab, Wartburg had similar engine, with 3 points/coils rather than the distributor.
Wonder if the DKW V6 stroker engine would fit in a 96?

It either is either "Dampf Kraft Wagen" or as you say "Deutsche Kraft Wagen"

the same south african site says

'Danish engineer Jörgen Skafte Rasmussen was the originator of the
DKW, derived from Dampf - Kraft - Wagen (Steam powered
vehicle), since Rasmussen's first design was a light steam car,
produced in 1916'
