Sad this thread didn't get any play. I want to do this too.
As far as I can tell though, it's just the same as any other car.

I haven't done this in my saab, but I did install some stuff called edeadv2 into my 1994 Integra ls, it made quite a bit of difference, but that car came with literally no sound insulation, having said that it's still a very noisy car.

I am planning on doing this during the summer...Saab's have terrible sound insulation...not sure why ? Although you can buy much cheaper material from Home Depot.

i have used other brands of sound damping materials on a couple of other cars. nothing on the saab yet, but then i have only had the saab 4 months.
http://www.b-quiet.com/ 'brown bread' and http://edeadsounddeadening.com/ 'edead v1' my opinion is that i had good/noticeable results, compared to the efforts and costs, in both my 2001 Golf and 2003 Jetta Wagon. on the 2001 golf, i pulled the complete interior out except the headliner, dash and doors. put full sheets down on the whole floor pan fire wall to rear bumper. this means all seats out, carpet out, padding out... bare metal covered with damping material. put pieces in the hatch door, on all the side panels, covered the rear wheel wells, down into the spare tire well... etc on the 2003 jetta wagon, i did the complete floor pan of the passenger space with full sheets of damping material. the rear cargo floor system is quite complex and hard to pull out. plus with all the plastic and padding back there, the sound damping sheets wouldnt have been nearly as effective as in the passenger space or as they were in the Golf. my wife was even able to notice the difference when going from the 2001 Golf to the 2003 Jetta Wagon, before i had a chance to put the material in the wagon. will it turn your car into a tomb? no. will it quiet things down? yep. |

The answer to that is, get a glorified toyota (lexus).
