To say that the future of Saab as an automaker remains murky is being charitable at best, but that doesn't mean there isn't a loyal body of customers with real needs. In the wake of the Swedish marque's bankruptcy, U.S. and Canadian Saab drivers were left without a clear supplier of parts and services, but now Saab Automobile Parts AB has stepped in to service North America's estimated 500,000 owners.

To be clear, Saab Automobile Parts isn't subject to the bankruptcy shenanigans that Saab itself is going through, although it does have a deal with the automaker's creditors that allows it to continue using the company's Trollhättan factory to make large replacement parts like body panels. Further, it has also signed on with major Saab suppliers to make sure parts are available for the long haul. Saab Automobile Parts AB has been providing brand spares since the 1960s.

The new North American subsidiary will be based out of Michigan, although it isn't immediately clear where the company's facilities will be located or how many people it will employ. The company says it warehouses about 70,000 parts and is capable of churning out some 30,000 order lines per day.
