Thinking of replacing the gearbox on my 1995 900 se v6 convertible. As its a gm gearbox I have the option of the f28 6 speed gearbox as far as I can tell. Are there any other compatible gearboxes from other Saabs I can use? I'm quite happy to change to a hydraulic clutch if needs be.
Which gear box is in the car now? There's a tag on top of the transmission and it should say something like FM55 501.
To date, I have never read about anyone swapping a newer model f28 6-speed into an older car, perhaps because the blocks are different in the 9-3SS cars... Ron
It's a f25 gm gearbox in at the moment. The f28 gearbox is a four wheel drive six speed gearbox that vauxhall used in the 4x4 calibra for many years. There is a kit that can be fitted to convert it to two wheel drive.
