The check engine light on my 2002 Arc has been on for 6 months. The code indicates a gas cap or vacuum issue. I think the problem may have occured when I had the fuel pump replaced. I think the mechanic loused up one of the vent hoses coming out of the gas tank. I've taken to resetting the engine control fuse each time I gas up just to get that darned light to turn off. But it comes back on after 150 miles. I've checked all the vacuum hoses and replaced the gas cap to no avail.

Even the makeshift tube-magnet thing couldn't get into the trans more than an inch, it seems to hit something in there.

So other than some crisco like metallic-grease-paste, I ddn't find any metal. But I'm wondering what you guys used and how deep I should be able to get it in there :cheesy:

I think these dealers are not fixing the problem because they don't want to lose their dealership during this time of Saab dowwn sizing. Why would there be a TSB if it's not a problem. There is no way I would have bought this SUV if I heard that noise and now I wonder if I could sell it. I really don't know what to do.
