i just want her to breathe better and sound a lot deeper and i want the sound of the turbo spool up and the "pop pop pop" when i let off the throttle..(idk if it would do that, but it would be cool)
2.5 would be fine i have 2.75 witch is an odd size but if you did a 3 inch it wouldnt hurt anything unlike where a n/a engine you need some backpressure to scavage (Vacuum made by backpressure witch pulls as the exhaust valve opens) a turbocharger makes its own back pressure so even tho in threory 3inch sounds better 2.5 is fine it wouldnt be any mesurable diffrence to go to 3 inch unless you were planning to use a giant turbo.
You would want to make sure he uses mandrel bends. There are a few tight turns to make near the back of the car, and if the pipe isn't mandrel bent, it will be too crimped to flow freely. If he knows what mandrel bends are, you'd probably be ok.
Alternatively, you could buy the JT 3 inch, 1 muffler, no cat from GS for $529, then get your buddy to install and weld in a cat. Before taking that approach, though, I'd talk to Nick T to make sure there would be room for a cat in the JT downpipe.

i was going to go with the JT 3" with sport cat when they had it, but ive been talked out of the 3" . I think the 2.5" will be perfect for what im using it for. (daily driver) so ya, thanks for all the advice!

Just be aware that the build quality of a home built system will probably not be as good as the JT system. A friend of mine has one, and it's very nicely done.
If you have your buddy create your system, see if he can get some SS as it will last alot longer. I have a full 2.5" turbo back system and currently have stg 3 software. So you will even have decent room to grow with a 2.5"
a 2.5" mandrel-bent exhaust system will be much better than stock, as it will flow alot better with fewer restrictions - this is what you want/need to make maximum power on a turbo-charged vehicle. That being said, if you can fit the piping, absolutely go with 3" all the way back from the turbo. If you are not happy with the sound or throatiness of a 3" exhaust, you can always have an extra muffler or two installed to quiet it down a bit.
i dont think the 3" would be as good because of the lack of power
that's absolutely not the case. Turbo-charged vehicles want the least amount of backpressure possible. Everything else remaining constant, you will be able to make more power on a 3" than a 2.5" exhaust system. Other than noise/tone, I cannot think of a single reason to get 2.5" rather than 3" (assuming it fits)
