can the pulley wheels from the crank etc squeek?

theres a squeek in my engine bay thats intermittant, i cant find where it is neither can my mates. it is getting louder all the time now, so i want to find it before it goes pop!?

maybe its the alternator?

I seem to recall reading where, if it's not a belt tension issue, it could be heralding the demise of the balancer on the crank pulley -

another potential is the alternator bushes..... but most likely the power steering / alternator or air con belts

fiddley job to replace the belts, but do-able (its easier by about 100% if you dont have air con)

I would say power steering / alternator or air con belts too, mine are squeaking too...

Clutch release bearing? If you hear it squeeking again and it stops when you apply a small amount of pressure to the clutch pedal, it's probably the release bearing.
