I got an mp steering rack clamp off ebay for my car and i noticed that there is no rubber on any part of it like i have seen on other sites, so should i fit my own, or is it alright the way it is?
was the clamp used? They had a lot of trouble keeping that rubber glued on, so if it used the seller probably had that problem, then sold it off. I would want to replace the rubber before installing it.
If it was new...then ask for a refund or replacement.
yeah, but the genuine saab fits more snugly than the mp performance, and i figured since there was rubber on it originally there must have been a reason,
same with jak's clamp... the one on my car is just like jak's.... but mine was made by mp... its the second generation mp steering rac clamp though... i would say... put a piece of rubber on it... re-sell it and use the money on a metal to metal.... because with the way the are designed if you've only got the clamp its probably not going to help a whole lot with out the brace....
it'll work then... just replace it with some good rubber... make sure its tight though.... the reason they changed from rubber to aaluminum is because the tighter you get the steering rac braced off to the firewall... the less torque steer you'll feel... and the rubber gives more play than a solid piece of aluminum.... and ultimately wears out...
well i installed my custom rubber lined mp performance rack and it works great, i used a lot of lube on the rubber and the torque steer definitly decreased steering is also more precise good stuff hopefully the rubber will last a long time
