ok so i have heard around here about adding 3.0 9-5 cams to a 2.5 v6. has anyone here done that and if so what are the increses, if they even fit. also i heard from some friends that say that if you remove the A/C pump from the belt drive that you could gain upwords of fifteen horse, is that true also, and once again if anyone has done this how did you go about doing so. any input is appreciated

Ok, this is 2nd hand knowledge. A friend of mine is big on vauxhall v6 tuning - his take is that the 3litre cams might do something - but if you want any significant gains you have to go out there and talk to the nice gentlemen at piper or kent cam divisions (or of course your chosen cam provider) I guess a lot of this also depends on your long term goals for the motor, the 3l cams are probably (~and i quote) 'only worth a small handful of ponies if not a couple of feedbags and some hay'
Good luck with the swap, but while you are there, pick up the rest of the block too! 3 litre conversion FTW!!
You clearly haven't dug the boards search facility .
You need what are called 'G' cams, these are a gauranteed power hike in the order of 10-20bhp, it depends on what you have fitted in the first place.
The 9-5 may not have 'G' cams as it has forced induction.
The Cadillac catera in 3.0sport guise is the same car as an Opel Omega MV6, this has 'G' cams.
With inlet mods and enhanced 'G' cams I had a 2.5 running 195bhp.
Removing the AC compressor from the belt's path may bring you 5-10hp as compared to when the AC compressor is running, but when the AC is not on the compressor takes very little if any power away from the engine. Completely removing an AC system will save a significant amount of weight, but I doubt thats something you would want to do.
thanks for letting me know that, now i wont take off the compressor, its not worth the hassle, and also thanks ragtop so is it only the cady and opel that have the "g" cams, and what are your intake mods? im running a CAI (filter behind the fog light)
