check this out: http://genuinesaab.com/gallery/95openair some pics of it installed. you take off the originall airbox and snorkal and put the little chrome pipe on the intake tube and then the filter on that. what does yours look like? whats different?

I was thinking of buying one but im not sure if I should. is there any performance increase when you install the intake?

if i was looking for performance gains i wouldnt want it, it will make your car sound better and help a little with lag and possibly better gas mileage maybe 1-3 hp though.

So how exactly does it change the sound. Ive heard that it is a "better" sound. But I dont mind the non-sound now. Can someone please describe the new sound?

Because it no longer has the insulation of the air filter box the sound is amplified, or less muffled ;)

I just dont want it to sound like a cheapo Honda that the kids trick out...also...if this is a better intake why doesn't SAAB just make it this way? Im just curious. :-)

saab engines are much bigger than hondas for the most part so it would never sound like a high pitched toy racer, also it will make deeper noise when you push the pedal down and on high revs.

it doesn't sound like a honda trust me. just enough whoosh so people know its a turbo.

It'll never sound like a Honda.
"Better" is in the eye of the beholder. Most buyers want quiet and low maintenance. Freaky performance modders are a tiny minority.
An open filter would quickly get blocked with ice around here.
