It's under your back seats, read the manual....

can you maybe post a picture? All I find is the jack and wrench for the jack

I have misplaced my manual at the moment since we moved and it was not in the car at the time, had it with my desk items.

thanks for the help

There are two bars under the back seat snapped into a plastic holder. Pull them out put them together and insert into the hole in the back top of your hatch sill. You then turn it which will lower the wheel.

It is not so easy..... You really do need the manual to do it the first time. It needs to be done step by step. Epecially important is positioning the jack. Be prepared to get dirty.

You might be able to download the manual from saab owners center
Hope this helps.

New owner of a 08 9-7x..... reading the owners manual... but I'm not having any luck finding the "hoist drive shaft hole" in the hatch sill to lower the spare tire.

Ah, found it.... hard to see when you are standing right above the sill...

If you look from an angle, it becomes a little more obvious .

yes, it is pain in the butt to find that slot to crak down the spare and also be prepared to get dirty. The spare tire is not the same rim size as the one on th car so it throws the drive of the car.
