So I kind of like this part of a form that is for people who love their project cars and want to share what they did. So my two project cars are the 1991 SAAB 900 4 door called “TURBONATOR” and MY 1986 SAAB 900 notchback (912 body style) her name would be “one piece at a time” like good old Johnny cashes song one piece at a time

There is many up dates that I want to do to both cars first of the turbonator has been a ice race car for 2 winters now. But not to far a way from me is a dirt track that has made a 4 cylinder class called the cruiser class. nice thing about it is the rules are very open and there is no restriction on motors. Only states motors must be stock appearing. All other tracks around my area have banded turbo’s and to run just a 16 valve car you have to way like 1000 pounds then a 8 valve car.

What needs to be done to the car.

-Install two side Impact bars on the passenger side of the car

-cut out all the wheel wells so I can fit 15’’x8” hosiers tires under the car with hitting the fenders

-pull rear cover on transmission and weld the diff together

-install 1” lug nuts

- set car up to go left.

What has been done

-16 valve turbo

-fmic out of 89 9000

- stage 2 chip from jak

- stage 3 box from spg 9

-roll gage

- gutted car weight is like 2400 pounds

Now on piece at a time built the car when I was 16 didn’t real have a lot of money to do it 100 percent right now I want to.

What has been done

-converted breaks to 88 and up

-wiring out of 89 spg (lh 2.4)

-Interior seats out 9000 aero
-16 super aero refinished

What would like to do.

-Redo body job doors hit jams theirs chips here and their.

-install matching working lock set

- install a super motor. That I have. 1985 engine block, 2.1 head, 2,1 intake, 1985 exhaust cams, board out throttle body, modified Mitsubishi turbo from spg 9, rising rate fuel pressure regulator, custom 3” inch exhaust modified red apc box , Matching red top injectors.

- fix head liner.

-install pyrometer

- new tires.

After getting over being deathly sick from a sever strep throat last week I was able to start working on the racecar. In between work and night classes theirs little time so the time I do have means I have to get lots done. My goal the other night was to be able to get 15” , 8” wide tires under the car. I got it done with the help of sawzall and grinder. http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m208/stephendenton/100_1088.jpg
mounted the tire and thier was only about one inch of clearnce around the hole tire to the fende.

when i was done thier was just a little bit of 4" from the tire to the fender

Wow, I love the look of your 86 Notchback, a lot of people say Saab's don't look good in white, but I think that car looks fantastic! Just really different from all the grey or green 900s out there!:cheesy: You got any more pics of it?

That really is a nice looking car, Interior looks awesome, really luxurious! you don't see many black leather 900 interiors, most of them are grey. Also looks good without those crinkly rubber strips down the side of the doors that most saabs have:D

Been very busy last few weeks have not really had the time to give any up dates on the cars. White car still at the body shop but the red 44 made its first dirt race Sunday night. The car and my self did really good we started 8th in the feature out of 16 and finished 5th. 7 laps to go I lost all power steering and handling those 8inch tires was more then a handful.

Few pictures first picture is to show what I did with the front suspension to camper out of it. My left side leans in 2 degrees and the right side leans 2 degrees out. We go clock wise around the track. What I had to do with getting that type of camber out of the car was I took the upper and lower ball joint holes on the a arms and I ether reamed the hole back or forward depending on which way I wanted the ball joint to go. Then to make sure the ball joint wouldn’t slide back in to place I welded washers on the outer ball joint bolts.

Second pictures is of my car the turbonator all dressed up for its first dirt race notice the wire screen over the front window, nerf bar and how much of the fenders I had to cut out.

Third picture is of me in the orange fire suit and my cousin in his blue and yellow fire suit standing next to his 195 horse 8 valve. He finished 2nd
